Amish Applesauce Cake Recipe

This Amish Applesauce Cake is a spiced, moist cake made with simple ingredients like applesauce, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It’s easy to make and doesn’t require frosting, but you can drizzle it with a simple glaze if you like. The applesauce keeps the cake wonderfully moist, and the spices give it that cozy, warm flavor that feels like home.

Ingredients:
For the Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups applesauce (unsweetened is best)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or raisins (optional)
For the Glaze (optional):
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp milk or water
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prepare the Pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
